Popular Clay Pigeon Shooting 20-bore shotguns
At HoM, we use 20-bore shotguns. These are still powerful guns but don't 'kick' as much as the more popular 12-bore bigger brothers.
Here are five popular 20-bore shotguns commonly used for clay pigeon shooting:
The Beretta 686 Silver Pigeon is a classic over-and-under 20-bore shotgun known for its reliability and versatility. It can be heavily modified to suit each shooter. Many experts see it as the 20-bore to have if you need customisations to maximise your shooting potential.
The Browning B725 is another highly regarded over-and-under shotgun chosen by clay shooters, beginners and experts alike. It's known for its steady and consistent shooting ability. Again, like the Beretta 686, it can be customised, just less than the 686, due to its manufacturing process.
The Blaser F16 is made in Germany, and it tells. You know what you are getting with German-made products, and this doesn't disappoint. It's very well constructed and has a high manufacturing level of quality. It's very well-balanced and is the most manoeuvrable gun we tested here.
The Caesar Guerini Invictus III is manufactured in Italy; it has authentic style and panache. It's also a very capable gun, lighter than the other options here by 400g. It's built to last and is popular with female shooters due to its recoil management.
The Perazzi MX20 is another Italian-made shotgun that is popular throughout Europe. It has exceptional craftsmanship and solid build qualities. A smooth and consistent action makes it populate with expert shooters.
Some of the above guns cost over £10,000 - the Perrazi; the others are more affordable at around £3,000 to £5,000.
Please note that the preferences for shotguns can vary among shooters, and it's essential to try out different models to find the one that best suits your personal preferences and shooting style.
