What can we do for a stag party in Inverness?
Inverness is a city that feels simultaneously remote and remarkably well-connected — a place where you can walk from a buzzing high street to genuinely wild countryside in under twenty minutes.
The River Ness bisects the city and gives it much of its charm, lined with Victorian townhouses, footbridges, and the striking red sandstone of Inverness Castle perched on a ridge above the water. The Victorian Market, tucked behind the high street, is one of Scotland's oldest covered markets and well worth a wander.
With a population of around 50,000, Inverness is compact enough to explore on foot, yet surrounded by some of the most dramatic scenery in Europe. It is, quite simply, one of Britain's most rewarding cities to visit. Inverness is a great city to visit for a stag party in Scotland.
Loch Ness Monster Hunt
No trip to Inverness is complete without hitting Loch Ness. Hire a private boat for the group or jump on one of the many guided cruises that depart from Inverness or Drumnadrochit. The loch is 23 miles long, over 700 feet deep in places, and genuinely eerie on a misty morning — perfect stag do atmosphere. Most cruises also stop at the ruins of Urquhart Castle, which sits dramatically on the shoreline and is one of Scotland's most iconic views. If the group is feeling adventurous, you can kayak sections of the loch too. Even confirmed sceptics tend to find themselves scanning the water by the end, great memories for a stag do in Inverness.
White Water Rafting on the River Findhorn
The River Findhorn is one of Scotland's best white-water rivers, with rapids ranging from tranquil spots to proper adrenaline-pumping sections, depending on conditions. All equipment is provided, and they have experienced guides who'll keep the banter flowing while keeping everyone safe. Expect to get absolutely soaked regardless of the weather. It's one of those activities where even the least sporty member of the group ends up loving it by the end. Sessions typically last around 2–3 hours and are based within easy reach of Inverness.
Whisky Tasting Tour
Scotland is famous for a few things, one being whisky. Inverness has a good few distilleries for you to visit. One is Glen Ord, which is around 20 minutes from Inverness City Centre. For a more premium experience, you can head further afield to distilleries like Dalmore, McAllan, or even Royal Brackla. Many operators run mini-buses to these cracking distilleries. At House of Mulben, we are about an hour from Inverness, and the local well-known distilleries are Glenlivet, Chivas and McAllan, all located within 10 minutes' drive from us. Many of our stag guests at HoM take in a whisky tasting in the morning and visit us for outdoor activities such as clay pigeon shooting, archery, fishing and air-rifle shooting in the afternoon.
Go-Karting at Inverness Kart Raceway
Inverness Kart Raceway is an indoor circuit just outside the city centre, with proper racing karts that reach decent speeds on a technical track. You can book the circuit exclusively for the group or join an open session. Set up a proper mini Grand Prix format — timed qualifying laps, a feature race, and a podium ceremony — and give out a wooden spoon or forfeit to whoever finishes last. It's one of those activities that's genuinely exciting regardless of whether people are into motorsport, and the competitive element brings out a side of people you don't always see. Sessions run for around an hour and include all safety equipment.
A Pub Crawl Through the City
Inverness, in terms of city size, is relatively small in Scotland and the UK. It does, however, punch well above its weight in terms of fun. Start at Hootenanny's on Church Street — a legendary venue with live traditional folk music most nights, a great ale selection, and a raucous atmosphere that gets going early. From there, head to The Gellions, which is the oldest pub in Inverness and has a proper old-school Scottish boozer feel. Johnny Foxes by the river is a reliable spot for later in the evening with a lively crowd and regular live music. Hootananny and Ironworks are also worth knowing about for later-night options — Ironworks is a proper live-music venue that hosts bigger acts. Inverness is compact enough to walk between all the key spots, which means no expensive taxi fares between bars.
Golf at Castle Stuart
If the stag is a golfer — or even if he's not — Castle Stuart Golf Links is genuinely one of the finest golf courses in Scotland. Designed by Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse, it's a championship-level links course that has hosted the Scottish Open multiple times. It sits right on the edge of the Moray Firth with sweeping views over the water and the Black Isle beyond. The condition of the course is exceptional, and the setting is genuinely dramatic. Green fees aren't cheap, but for a special occasion, it's well worth it. Book well in advance, especially during the summer months, as it gets extremely busy.
House of Mulben is about an hour away
On the main link road, the A96, we are about an hour's drive away from Inverness. We have hosted many stag parties over the years, and all have gone very well. We can offer clay-pigeon shooting, archery, fishing, and air-rifle shooting. Many of our stag parties include a whisky tasting or experience at one of the local distilleries, followed by our activities in the afternoon. We are in the heart of Speyside, which is truly one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland, if not the UK.
